The AMPitheatre at Briggs

In partnership with Alma Mater Productions (AMP), the GFF is presenting four nights of programs at the W&M Martha Wren Briggs Amphitheatre – it’s the AMPitheatre. Please read the venue details below, then check out the films playing at the AMPitheater!

NOTE: Due to current campus COVID-19 restrictions, only members of the W&M community (current students, staff, faculty, and administrators) may attend these programs.

About the AMPitheatre

WHERE
The AMPitheatre is located at 121 Ukrop Way, through the woods located behind Miller Hall. (Google Map)

WHEN
Screenings will take place nightly, March 24-27. The gates open at 7:30 each night, and films start at 8:00 PM.

ADMISSION
These films are free and unticketed, and admission is first-come, first-served. Only current members of the W&M community may attend. Upon entry, festival staff will scan your TribeLink event pass in your W&M app to track attendance.

SEATING
Seating will be available in both the existing venue seating and the lawn areas. If you plan to sit on the lawn, you may want to bring a blanket or portable chair to sit in. Seating will be distanced in compliance with current W&M COVID-19 campus regulations (more below).

WEATHER
In the event any of the events below are postponed due to inclement weather, they will be moved to Sunday, March 28 at 8:00 PM.

FOOD & DRINK
No food and drink will be sold at the venue. No outside food or drink is permitted.

COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS
All guests will be expected to comply with continuing on campus protocols as part of the Healthy Together: A Community Commitment (HTCC) safety rules. In regards to the AMPitheatre, these considerations include:

• Wearing a mask at all times.

• Attending the program and sitting near only existing “close contacts” as defined by the HTCC guidelines. Event staff will enforce distanced seating between guests/parties throughout the venue.

• Contactless check-in – please be ready to show your TribeLink event pass code for scanning upon arrival.

• If you are sick or have been recently exposed to COVID-19, do not attend these events.

Any attendees violating these regulations will be removed from the venue and subject to current W&M repercussions for violating these community safety standards.

24 Speed – 2021 Student Film Showcase

POSTPONED DUE TO WEATHER
Will now take place at 8:00 PM on Saturday, March 27, as a lead-in program before Mandibles.

Produced in partnership with the Reeder Media Center and W&M Libraries, the 24 Speed student filmmaking competition is back… now in its 18th year!

Join us as we kick off the 2021 festival with a collection of short films created by students in only 24 hours. Usually a team project, this year’s contest will task students to complete a solo editing challenge from pre-existing video footage. During this screening the submitted shorts will be premiered and awards will go to the top films as decided by a jury of W&M faculty, staff, and alumni… and don’t forget the crowd-pleasing Audience Award – come out to vote for your favorite film!
